Varsity hockey season ends in wild fashion

The varsity hockey team finished off their season in dramatic fashion. They ended it off by playing in their senior night game on February 6 against the Beavercreek Beavers. The very next day, February 7, the team played at the Beavers senior night.
“Senior night went very well. We underestimated their defense and luckily Dan Krzyminski, 12, was crazy enough to have a little fun with those squids,” said Jeff Wolkoff, 10.
On the teams’ senior night, they really used home field advantage to help get in a scoring frenzy. It was a very close game in the beginning, but the team picked it up after Krzyminski got the team fired up with his “act” with the squids which were thrown from the stands.
“The games against Beavercreek were really good because we did not think they would perform as well as they did. The team now knows that we can’t take any team lightly in the tournament,” said Cody Pendleton, 11.
The final score was 5-2 in a victory during senior night. The goals were scored by Brandon Nazek, 11, Curtis Robertson, 11, Drew Tappan, 12, and two goals by captain Dan Ashton, 11.
The last game of the season did not go as smoothly as the SHS hockey senior night. The Beavercreek Beavers took over the game from the start and for the varsity squad, it seemed like no shot was going in the net. Eventually, the team got a few goals in, but just could not get enough as the Beavers took the victory 3-2. |
