Bowling tryouts : one day down, one more to go
By: Kelsey Drapkin
Tuesday, November 11 marked the first day of women’s bowling tryouts. With a turn out of about 16 girls, Coach Brad Walker has his work cut out for him to form the Varsity and JV teams.
Walker said he would be willing to take 16 girls for the two teams. This would hopefully mean no women will be getting cut.
“For my first year trying out for the team, I think I learned a lot and my game greatly improved due to Brad’s coaching. I’m looking forward to getting even better,” said Nikki Feld, 10.
“Bowling tryouts were a lot of fun and had a great atmosphere. Hopefully this season will be just as amazing as last year,” said Katie Ziegler, 10.
With balls rolling and pins falling, many were coached and showed much improvement throughout the two hours. Playing three games, the highest women’s score was 199.
Turkeys were abundant. The competition will be tough for those trying to play varsity.
“I really enjoyed it even though I know I didn’t get the highest scores there. I’m just excited to improve my game and maybe make the team,” said Jill Streck, 10.
The second, and last, day of tryouts is on Thursday, November 13. The team will be announced on Friday, November 14. At the meeting in the commons, Walker will hand every potential an envelope with a paper saying yes or no inside.
Good luck to all the women who tried out.
