Black Student Union
School Clubs
B.S.U. is an organization, which meets biweekly and is open to all students at S.H.S. The purpose of the club is to foster pride and positive self-esteem, and to provide support for the
everyday concerns of African-American students. The contributions of African-Americans to society are highlighted. B.S.U.'s projects and outside resources are open and available to all students.
The purpose of B.S.U. is to encourage a better understanding among ALL students, to help
members and others learn more about African-American history, to encourage ALL members but especially our minority students to become more involved in all aspects of the Sycamore High School community, to encourage academic excellence, to plan and investigate opportunities and
options for post-high school possibilities, and to participate in community service and other activities.
