The boys freshman basketball team will all be playing their final game against Lakota East at Fairfield. The team is finishing up on a positive note winning three of their last five games.
“We have an opportunity to improve our record, and make it far in the tournament,” said Eric Stepp, 9.
The tournament is double elimination, so no matter what the boys will have a minimum of three games left. The Aves play Oak Hills in the first round, who they have beaten previously.
“We beat them once, we should have no trouble doing it again,” said Ethan Beck, 9.
The first tournament game will be at Fairfield high school, which by itself is angering players. “We aren’t playing Fairfield, so I don’t understand why we have to play there, if we play Oak Hills,” said Ryan Jones, 9.
The team has struggled with starting off their games slowly. “We cannot come out and waste a game (four quarters) we have a minimum of four games and cannot waste the first quarter of each one,” said Ross Sferra, head coach.
