Anna Kimball, a 7-year old former baseball player from Allen, Texas, got kicked off the team by her coach. Not because she was not showing up to practice or because she did not get along well with other teammates, but simply because she is a girl.
"I can't believe that she is seven and already having to face this," said Tami Kimball, Anna’s mom during an interview with KDFW. Apparently, the coach called Kimball’s mom, and straight up told her that she was off the team because she was a girl.
“Because of who you are, because you were born a girl, you're not allowed to go do something,” said Kimball, during the KDFW interview. The coach wanted to become more competitive, and he felt like a girl would slow them down.
At SHS, there are teams that are claimed to be “boy sports”, yet there are numerous girls on the hockey team.
“That is not fair! I would be so mad if my coach kicked me off the team just because I am a girl!” said Sari Baum, 10.
Anna has a brother, Carson Kimball, who she was on the team with and who she is very close with.
"I just think if I can't be on the same team as my sister I should just quit on the team I was playing," said Kimball during a KDFW interview.
