Starting every Tues., Katie MacLachlan, 12, Hayley Baas, 12, Amanda Frey, 12, Hailey Jardin, 12, and Lina Cardenas, 12, will coach a youth lacrosse camp at Blue Ash Elementary. The program, School for Scholars, is designed to introduce students to the game at an early age.

This is the first year that Coach Eddie Clark has run the program, and so far, it has been a success.

“Working with the younger kids has been a really great experience. I’ve really enjoyed teaching them how to play lacrosse,” said Baas.

At School for Scholars, the girls taught the aspiring players how to pass, cradle, and run with the ball. In between drills and exercises, the girls have had time for snacks and games of tag and relay races.

“I’ve really enjoyed watching them improve, they seem to really get it,” said MacLachlan.

The camp will go on for six weeks and will be followed by a more formal youth league in the spring.

“I love being able to work with the little kids; it’s nice to see the future of this program,” said Jardin.
