I sat down to get to know Kal Heyn, 10 who plays on the SHS hockey team. In this one-on-one interview, Heyn talks not only about his hockey life, but also gives us some inside info on who he really is when he is not wearing his ice skates.

JS: At what age did you start playing competitive ice hockey?

KH: I started playing when I was ten years old, so that would make this my fifth year.

JS: What position do you mostly play?

KH: I consistently play left wing, but I also play quite a bit of center.

JS: What is your favorite meal to enjoy prior to a game?

KH: I love to eat a lot before a game. Especially pasta. It gives me all the energy I need and more to compete on the ice.

JS: Who is your professional hockey idol and why do you look up to him?

KH: Definitely Mats Sundin, a former player for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks. He is a great player and a leader. He always works hard and knows what he is doing, on and off the ice.

JS: What do you like to do in your spare time? (other then hockey)

KH: I love to practice guitar and work on academic stuff. However mostly I like to exercise for hockey. chuckles
