Q: When did you start playing tennis?

A: When I was 5 1/2. I have been playing for more than 10 years.

Q: What inspired you to start playing?

A: My dad always wanted me to so I thought I would give it a try.

Q: Did you always enjoy tennis?

A: No there have definitely been times where I have gotten bored or tired of it. Most people do not realize how mentally and physically draining tennis is compared to other sports. But I have realized that I have got to always remember I am playing to have fun, so I should always try hard and have fun doing it.

Q: Do you think being on a team makes tennis a little bit more entertaining?

A: No doubt about it. I have loved being on a tennis team since the first time that I was on one in 7th grade. The team learns to work towards goals and have fun together. You look forward to being with the team and you never forget the memories.

Q: Would you say that being with the team is one of the best parts of tennis overall?

A: Absolutely.

Q: Do you have any tips for underclassmen to be prepared for tryouts?

A: You have to be mentally and physically prepared for tryouts. That means doing extra running and practicing serving in the weeks before tryouts. During tryouts and during the season, they have got to eat right and get enough sleep. Also, they need to not only show great sportsmanship and attitude towards their upperclassmen teammates, but also their opposing players and coaches.

Q: Finally, on a scale of one to ten, how eager are you for tennis season?

A: Ten. I cannot wait. It is going to be another great Sycamore Tennis season filled with a lot of victories, fun times, and memories that will never be forgotten.
