On Monday, students filed into rm. 261, home of the “Study of Rock” class, taught by Dawn Stone-Voss. The group was diverse, but everyone in the class was ready to appreciate rock music.
“The first day was awesome. We had a conversation about Johnny Depp. Our teacher is so cool and nice,” said Anna Groom, *9*.
One event the students are looking forward to is the field trip to the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
The class will miss an entire school day, during which they will tour the museum, and listen to a presentation entitled “Women Who Rock.”
“I hope they learn new information about bands- some that they knew before, new bands, even bands that they didn’t know existed,” said Stone, about the field trip.
The class curriculum will cover everything from the roots of rock n’ roll to The Beatles.
“I love learning about the bands they listen to in the present,” said Stone.
