As the senior athletes dress up their underclassmen in embarrassment, make picture collages, decorate the gym, and get pumped for Senior Night, they start to realize that it is almost over.

Throughout all of the years the, the high school seniors thought it was going by slow, not really though. They now realize their senior year is actually here and there is no going back.

“Man, I cannot believe I am actually graduating in a few months, I remember my first day of freshman year like it was yesterday, this is crazy,” said Larry Cook, 12.

To recognize the important seniors who play sports at SHS, we throw and congratulation and moving on ceremony at one of their last games. During the boys varsity basketball game they congratulate not only the basketball players but also cheerleaders and flyerettes.

Also, SHS will usually give out important awards during the ceremony such as the Roger Veith Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was granted to Kyle Sess, 12. Sess was the Varsity football quarter back, he was granted this for his exhibiting exemplary, sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity.

“Kyle really deserved that award, he was a great leader on the football team and I don’t think they could have chosen anyone better,” said Jo Wegner, 12.

During the day of the Senior Night, SHS threw a huge pep rally for the winter dance. The rally really pepped up the students and got them ready for the big game. Also, there was a surprise appearance of the “Firecracker” rope jumping girls who also attended the game.

As for the Ave Cave, it was packed! Students, especially the seniors, really filled up the stands to support their senior peers. The section was really rowdy which caused the score of the game to be very close.

“I have never seen a group of teenagers get so excited and crazy over little girls jumping rope,” said Tori Bere, 11.

We love our seniors. It is always sad to see them leave and graduate even though the juniors already have “senioritis” for the year to come.
