The week of Feb. 6 has been declared Spirit Week to get both the staff and students excited for the pep rally on Feb. 10.
Monday is Country Day, Tuesday is I Work Out Day, Wednesday is Nerd Day, Thursday is Disney Day, and Friday is class colors.
“I plan to go all out with all of my outfits,” said Tony Popenoe, 9.
Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday have gone according to plan with many students dressing to the day’s particular theme. However, SHS announced that Disney Day is off and will be replaced with the SHS tradition of Sweater Thursday.
“I was excited for Disney Day because I cannot remember the school doing anything like that. I do not think they should change it. Sweater Thursday is really boring since we have it every week already,” said Meredith Griga, Spanish teacher.
Others are also puzzled as to why the school decided to change up spirit week.
“I do not have anything that is actually Disney. Maybe so many other kids did not have anything either, that the school just decided to cancel it and make Thursday’s theme more doable,” said Joseph Vaz, 9.
Even if Disney Day has been replaced, Spirit Week has still done its job of inspiring school spirit in both the staff and the students at SHS. For more SHS spirit, visit the Spirit Club at mysycamoreschools.org
