One of the most anticipated games for the girls lacrosse team has been their rematch against Mason High School. After losing to them for the first time in school history last year, the girls were eager to prove that their one point victory in overtime was a fluke.
“There’s no way that should have happened last year, or should ever happen again,” said Katie Mac, 12.
On Apr. 19, the girls had their revenge, beating Mason 10-9 with a last minute goal by Hayley Baas, 12.
“I was so happy. We had been waiting for this for a while,” said Baas.
Their victory over the Comets sent the girls to the fourth ranked team in the state, behind longtime rivals Upper Arlington and New Albany, as well as 2010 and 2011 State champion Medina.
“We’re not satisfied at fourth place though. We’re still working hard every day to get better,” said Kathleen Gasset, 11.
The girls will take on two undefeated teams this week, Mariemont on Apr. 26, and New Albany on Apr. 28.
