Displayed is the cover artwork for the original Broadway cast recording of “Into the Woods.” The first man to direct this show was the great James Lapine. Mr. John Whapham will be striking out on a course slightly different than the one Lapine took, having Milky White the cow be played by a live actor rather than a wooden model on wheels. There are few things in this life more pleasurable than a night on the town, and boogying your classy self to your local stage to enjoy some classy theater.
Because the Aves Theatre Department is classy, they are going to no less than three shows this year. Having recently seen “Billy Elliot” at the Aronoff Center, they now turn their attention to “Into the Woods” performed by the College Conservatory of Music.
Exchanging “Billy Elliot’s” flurry of flying limbs and guttural British accents for the orchestral magic and heavy motifs of “Into the Woods” can be a jarring transition for a mortal. Both shows blow minds in different ways.
“Hopefully I can handle the physical and mental stress of seeing two shows as epic as ‘Billy Elliot’ and ‘Into the Woods’ within the span of one month,” said Zoe Bochner, 11.
Seeing as how Aves Theatre will be performing ‘Into the Woods’ in the spring, this viewing experience should be excellent for the cast.
“Perhaps I will pick up some character ideas from the actors at CCM,” said Bochner
Hopefully their classiness will protect them from the mind-bending rays of awesomeness emanating from “Into the Woods.”
“I am definitely willing to risk my sanity to watch ‘Into the Woods.’ I have heard that it is like staring into the face of God,” said Bochner.
