All of the Mock Trial teams participated in a competition on Jan. 24 at the Hamilton County Courthouse. The three teams, the Green team, the Gold team, and the Aves team, are all starting to feel comfortable for their upcoming district competition on Jan. 31.
“It went really well. We were able to find the other team’s weaknesses and build off of that,” said Erica Zaretsky, 11.
All of the teams are about even in terms of skill and knowledge. Although the Green team has of lot of the SHS Mock Trial veterans, this does not affect which school they face. At the Hamilton County Courthouse, the Gold team went up against Indian Hill, played the defense, and won the trial.
“I went up against a couple of Indian Hill attorneys with my fellow attorney, Emma Rogge, 11. We were able to successfully use our witnesses to prove our case. We will work hard at these last few practices to ensure success at the district competition,” said Ritvik Vasudevan, 12.
All of the teams have a couple more practices before they must be ready on Jan 31. The district competition is very important to all of the coaches and students. The teams are finishing editing their speeches in order to reduce the amount of errors that another team may be able to bite on.
“Today was a great way to test how far we’ve come and how far we have to go before our competition on Jan. 31. It was nice going up against the teams we’ll face in districts, and I can’t wait to prove to ourselves our progress since the beginning!” said Nicole Streicher, 11.
