On April 18, the girls lacrosse team travelled to Lakota West High School for their first GMC tournament game. Coming off a strong 10-18 win against Summit High School, the girls were looking to crush the Firebirds.
After a hard fought first half, the girls went into halftime up 7-6.
“We weren’t completely focused the first half, and it definitely showed,” said Kara Marth, 10.
However, once the girls took the field again, it was a completely different team.
“We focused on our game and started playing a lot better. It was a mental thing, the skills were definitely there all along,” said Amanda Frey, 12.
The girls finished the game with a win of 15-7, only letting the Firebirds score one goal in the second half.
“As long as we played the way we did in the second half, we will be an extremely successful team, there’s no doubt in my mind,” said Lucy Schutty, 11.
Up next, the girls will take on Mason on Apr. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at SJHS.
